A Historical Landmark in the Heart of Helsinki Opens as a New Hybrid Work Office
5.11.2024
The historical landmark designed by Armas Lindgren in 1913 and owned by Ylva, will reopen in the heart of Helsinki as a new hybrid workspace, thanks to a new collaboration. Innovation Home, a provider of office services, will open its doors in the renovated property during 2025.
Located at the prime intersection of Mannerheimintie and Kaivokatu, Innovation Home M7 will serve as a hybrid workspace, addressing the evolving needs of office culture and strengthening the vibrancy of the city center.
“Recently, there’s been much discussion about empty office spaces that only attract employees under compulsion. We believe it doesn’t have to be that way. People can be drawn back to the office by choice when it’s in a prime location and offers not only services that ease everyday life but also superior functionality and genuine community to support success in modern knowledge work,” says Henri Hietala, CEO of Innovation Home.
“From the perspective of employers, the ability to utilize shared spaces alongside their own offices offers companies of all sizes the opportunity to improve office quality and location, while simultaneously achieving savings in total costs,” Hietala adds.
A New Era of Office Culture
Innovation Home M7 encourages community-oriented activities and offers services tailored for hybrid work with a welcoming spirit. As the owner of the M7 property, Ylva is pleased with this collaboration, which aims to increase the utilization rate of the landmark building and reduce unused square meters.
“It’s wonderful to bring the entire building into modern use in a way that minimizes waste and reduces the carbon footprint. The property operates on emission-free purchased energy, and most existing surfaces, furniture, and doors will be repaired or used as they are,” says Eelis Rytkönen, Ylva’s Chief Impact Leader.
A Commitment to Low-Carbon Choices and Community
The building will continue to operate on emission-free energy, while Innovation Home will foster a community-oriented environment. Renovations will focus on making as many low-carbon choices as possible.
“If there are leftover materials from the renovations, they will be sold forward or, as a last resort, recycled. When selecting new products, we prioritize low-carbon, long-lasting options in collaboration with Innovation Home, the interior designer, and contractors. The hospitable expertise of the Innovation Home team is ideal for supporting a sense of community in hybrid work, bringing a vibrant spirit and spark to these historically valuable surroundings,” Rytkönen says.
