30.9.2020
Ylva’s Chief Executive Officer Antti Kerppola is stepping down to take on a new position outside the company from 1 Oct 2020. He is also applying for a release from his position as Chief Financial Officer of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY). The CEO position as well as that of HYY’s CFO is temporarily assigned to Ylva’s Chief Financial Officer Eemeli Lehto from 1 Oct 2020 onwards. The recruitment of a new CEO will begin immediately.
“Ylva, previously known as HYY Group, has made business operations based on responsibility and sustainability more central to its strategy than ever, and we want to thank Antti for steering these operations successfully. The entire community’s gratitude towards Antti’s work will carry long into the future,” says Ylva’s Chair of the Board Jenni Hupli.
Ylva’s key projects, Lyyra in Hakaniemi and the Grand Hansa in central Helsinki, will remain at the core of strategy and continue to be worked on strongly. These construction projects will strengthen future value and result development in the best locations of Helsinki.
“Both professionally and privately, the past five years have been a great and educational experience. We have raised the level of ambition in the development of central Helsinki and shown how corporate activism and a liberal world view work at their best, nationally as well as internationally. This has been achieved through great teamwork among the staff and the Board, and I am happy to leave Ylva in good hands and in excellent form,” Antti Kerppola sums up.
Antti Kerppola held the position of Ylva’s CEO for over five years, during which time Ylva has made significant contributions to its real estate portfolio, for example by acquiring the Seurahuone building and winning the Siltasaarenportti plot competition now known as the Lyyra project. At the same time, Ylva’s net assets grew from 160 million euros to 260 million euros, while the total assets have doubled. Under Kerppola, Ylva has strengthened its network also internationally, e.g. by being the first Finnish real estate developer to join the Net Zero Carbon Buildings carbon neutrality agreement.
