We could reduce the climate impact of our food by an average of 30–40% by changing our diet. Fully plant-based lunches that do not contain any dairy products or eggs either are the climate-friendliest option, and these are now available in every UniCafe on a daily basis. The carbon footprint of each lunch option has also been calculated and is displayed on the lunch menu. The climate-friendliest main and side dishes and drinks options have additionally been marked with the Climate Choice label.

Tell us how we could further increase the popularity of fully plant-based lunch options at UniCafe.

Please consider that we have a large number of restaurants, and each of them is already offering a daily vegan lunch option.

What would encourage even more people to choose a plant-based meal? Would it be more detailed information? A lower price? Not having anything but plant-based meals available?

Competition rules

  • The contest period runs from 5 Dec 2022 to 8 Jan 2023.
  • Anyone can submit ideas. Members of Ylva’s Supervisory Board and Executive Team are not allowed to participate in the competition.
  • The winning prize is EUR 1,000, which can be divided into two or three equal or unequal parts. Taxes indicated in the winner’s tax deduction card will be deducted. Honourable mentions may also be awarded.
  • If no feasible ideas are submitted, the prize may not be awarded.
  • Ylva’s Supervisory Board will select the winner(s) of the contest and prize in January 2023.
  • Ylva reserves the right to implement any of the submitted ideas immediately or at a later time, regardless of whether the implemented idea is awarded. There is, however, no obligation to implement any of the ideas.
  • The winner(s) will be notified privately.

The proposals will be assessed through three criteria:

  1. Effectiveness: The proposal’s benefit to the promotion of the sales of plant-based meals.
  2. Impact: The proposal’s positive impact on Ylva’s operations (e.g. lower carbon emissions).
  3. Resources: What resources are required for the proposal’s execution (e.g. euros, work effort).
